Abstract
The present paper examines the achievements of Alfons Gabriel, the Austrian Iranologist, on his journeys to Iranian deserts. He frequently traveled to Iran’s deserts at the beginning of the 20th century in company with his wife. The most noteworthy feature of Gabriel which distinguishes him from the other travelers who visited Iran was that, before setting out on his journeys, he carefully studied the road maps and the works of the other people, botanists, topographers, zoologists, archeologists, state delegates, physicians, advisors, and foreigners who had previously traveled to Iran. He made several voyages to Iran’s deserts in order to make new discoveries about them. His writings in this regard contain several invaluable information about the culture, people, religion, and ethnic groups of this country. In this paper, the writer investigates such findings following the library research method.
