The belief in the existence of a savior who will one day rise and, in order to establish eternal peace in the world, will govern the world in a way that there would be no trace of vice anywherecan be clearly witnessed in various ancient Iranian texts. Perhaps, Man’s tendency and efforts for accessing eternal happiness and overcoming omnipresent hardships (which might even lead to experiencing failure in this regard) have provided the basis for the development of eschatological thoughts and beliefs. Such ideas,from an individualistic point of view,create the belief in the final victory of good people and, from a social point of view, promote hope for a better future and liberating oneself from all hardships. It seems that the dissemination process of eschatological literature, which is always accelerated during difficult times and when people are suffering from social and religious crises, is also rooted in this belief. In this paper, following the library research method while focusing on Zoroastrian and Pahlavi sources, the writer mainly aims to propound and examine certain points about the belief in saviors in some ancient Iranian texts.
